The idea that my trip to Italy could be postponed completely did not fit into my head. At the Athens airport, at the check-in desk, I was offered to fly another day, saying that everything would not fit anyway. Standard overbooking for Europe and a combined flight of three companies. The options to change tickets were not at all in my plans, and after a short conversation and an explanation that I was the chef who performed at the gastronomic festival in Udine — I was given a ticket. Lying for the good. However, without guarantees and in a first-come, first-served format. There were an indecent number of “lucky ones”, but I successfully took the place of 25 D.

Venice greeted me with rain and waiting for the city bus to the railway station. By the way, this is not the one Venice, which we imagine. You need to go and swim to the “one”. 30 minutes later, I bought a train ticket to Udine (northern Italy) and settled into the carriage. The tired man enjoyed the voice of the fervent driver, who, in a typical Italian manner, voiced the stations like the names of songs. 1.30 hours later, I got off at the station and walked to the hotel, the wheels of the suitcase clearly clattering on the roadbed. I could practically feel the locals greeting me through the open windows. It was late, there was no taxi, you can’t call an Uber without a card.

I couldn’t have dinner, I didn’t want to have dinner. Prosecco was drunk and sent to bed by himself. The next day, my friends and I went for a walk and got to know the city. I didn’t let go of the camera and was able to capture some great shots. Udine turned out to be a very homely, completely non-tourist, beautiful place.

In 5 days, we agreed that we would like to visit this city again. I was proud to show our restaurant in Moscow, our workshop in bars and talk about what we do. The north of Italy loves Russians, I have always heard Russia with a smile. It seems to me that I have made new friends.I was wearing trousers and a jacket every day — it was uncomfortable to be at breakfast in a T-shirt, among the local colorful men. Regardless of age, everyone was dressed to the nines.

The footage shows Udine and the local rhythm of life in October 2024.

Thanks for watching
